Infosys Share Price Update: Stock Declines Approximately 4% Following Q4 Results; Analyst Ratings and Future Outlook

Infosys, India’s second-largest IT services firm, reported a consolidated net profit of ₹8,501 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2026, marking a 21% increase from ₹7,033 crore in the same period last year. Despite these positive results, the company’s stock price fell sharply by 3.72% to an intraday low of ₹1,194.50 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Analysts have mixed views on the stock, with concerns about future growth amid a challenging economic landscape.

Quarterly Performance Highlights

For the fourth quarter of FY26, Infosys achieved a revenue from operations of ₹46,402 crore, reflecting a 13.4% increase from ₹40,925 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. On a sequential basis, the profit after tax rose by 28% from ₹6,654 crore in the third quarter. Revenue also saw a slight quarter-on-quarter increase of 2% from ₹45,479 crore in the previous quarter. The operating margin for this quarter remained stable at 21%, consistent with the previous year but showing an improvement of 260 basis points compared to the prior quarter. Looking ahead, Infosys has projected a constant-currency revenue growth for FY27 in the range of 1.5% to 3.5%, while maintaining its operating margin guidance between 20% and 22%.

Market Reaction and Analyst Insights

Despite the positive quarterly results, Infosys’s stock faced significant pressure, with its American depositary receipts closing 4% lower. Analysts have expressed a cautious outlook on the stock, balancing near-term challenges against the company’s long-term positioning. Jefferies has reiterated its “Hold” rating on Infosys, lowering its target price to ₹1,235, citing limited upside potential. The brokerage noted that the company’s revenue growth guidance for FY27 fell short of market expectations, alongside a 3% sequential decline in headcount and a 19% year-on-year drop in new deal wins. Morgan Stanley has also maintained its “Equal-weight” recommendation, reducing its target price to ₹1,380, while highlighting a weaker-than-expected performance across key metrics.

Brokerage Recommendations and Future Outlook

Brokerages have varied opinions on Infosys’s stock, with some maintaining a positive outlook. Motilal Oswal Financial Services has reiterated its “Buy” rating, keeping the target price at ₹1,450, indicating a potential upside of approximately 17%. They noted that the company’s revenue growth guidance suggests increasing pressure on its existing business portfolio. HDFC Securities has also maintained a “Buy” recommendation with a target price of ₹1,550, emphasizing that the fourth-quarter revenue was impacted by seasonal weakness and slower client decision-making. They have adjusted their earnings estimates downward by 2% to 3% due to the slower growth outlook.

Challenges Ahead for Infosys

The outlook for Infosys remains cautious as the company navigates a challenging macroeconomic environment. Analysts have pointed out that the ongoing geopolitical uncertainties and a shift in client priorities towards cost optimization over large-scale transformation projects could weigh on future growth. The decline in net new deal wins and a reduction in workforce during the quarter further underscore the company’s cautious near-term growth outlook. As Infosys adapts to these challenges, its ability to leverage advancements in artificial intelligence and manage pricing pressures will be crucial for maintaining competitiveness in the evolving IT landscape.
