India Hosts Workshop to Strengthen Tribal Research Institutions

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is set to host a two-day National Workshop aimed at strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) from July 7 to 8, 2026, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This workshop will focus on evaluating the current operations of TRIs across India and formulating a strategic roadmap to transform them into dynamic hubs for knowledge, culture, and policy support, dedicated to fostering tribal development.

This initiative reflects the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing institutional capabilities while preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of India’s tribal communities. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the workshop seeks to encourage evidence-based, inclusive development within these communities.

The workshop will be inaugurated by Shri Jual Oram, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs. He will be joined by distinguished guests, including Shri Durgadas Uikey, Hon’ble Minister of State for Tribal Affairs; Dr. R. Introducing TribeX: A Digital Learning Platform

A highlight of the workshop will be the launch of TribeX, a groundbreaking digital learning platform designed to support tribal arts, culture, languages, and traditional knowledge. TribeX aims to establish a comprehensive digital learning ecosystem that preserves and disseminates India’s tribal heritage while facilitating research, cultural exchange, and sustainable livelihoods.

Workshop Structure and Focus Areas

Approximately 200 participants will gather, representing Tribal Research Institutes, State Tribal Welfare Departments, academic institutions, NGOs, and industry experts from across the country.
