Social media influencer and former Bigg Boss contestant Vikas Jayram Fhatak, popularly known as Hindustani Bhau, has filed a petition with the Bombay High Court seeking to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan. The legal action stems from Khan’s controversial remarks about the Holi festival during a February 2025 episode of Celebrity MasterChef, which Fhatak claims were derogatory and hurtful to the Hindu community.

The incident occurred on February 20, when Farah Khan allegedly referred to Holi as “a festival for the Chhapris,” a term that Hindustani Bhau argues carries negative connotations. Fhatak contends that such remarks can incite communal unrest and hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community.
Following the broadcast, Fhatak filed a formal complaint with the Khar Police Station on February 21, urging them to take action against Khan. Despite escalating his complaint to higher police authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, he claims that no action has been taken, and the police have yet to register an FIR. This lack of response has prompted Fhatak to seek judicial intervention.

In his petition, filed through advocate Ali Kaashif Khan-Deshmukh, Fhatak emphasizes that Holi represents the triumph of good over evil and is a time for celebration. Government of Uttar Pradesh & Ors (2014), which mandates that an FIR must be registered if the information provided indicates a cognizable offense. He asserts that his complaint clearly outlines a cognizable offense, making it legally obligatory for the police to act.
