Gold and Silver Price Forecast: Impact of Trump Tariffs and Middle East Tensions on Market Rally

Rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, coupled with renewed global trade uncertainties following recent tariff decisions by former US President Donald Trump, are projected to drive gold and silver prices upward in the coming week. Analysts indicate that investors are increasingly turning to safe-haven assets amid market volatility. As they await key economic indicators, market participants are closely monitoring developments that could influence future price movements.
Geopolitical Tensions and Trade Uncertainty
The current geopolitical landscape, particularly in the Middle East, has heightened concerns among investors. The ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, along with the Russia-Ukraine situation, has created an environment of uncertainty. This has led to a surge in demand for gold and silver, as these precious metals are often viewed as safe-haven investments during turbulent times. Analysts from Choice Broking have noted that Trump’s recent tariff increases, following a Supreme Court ruling, have revived trade uncertainties, further driving investors toward bullion as a defensive asset. The combination of these geopolitical risks and trade issues has contributed to a risk-off sentiment in the market, prompting investors to seek refuge in precious metals.
Market Performance of Gold and Silver
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver futures have seen a notable increase, climbing by Rs 8,584, or 3.5 percent, over the past week. Meanwhile, gold prices advanced by Rs 981, nearly 1 percent. According to Prathamesh Mallya, DVP – Research at Angel One, gold prices fluctuated within a narrow range during the week, trading between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1.6 lakh per 10 grams. The rise in prices has been attributed to softer economic data from the US and escalating geopolitical risks. Mallya anticipates that gold prices may continue to rise, potentially reaching Rs 1.61 lakh per 10 grams, as investors remain cautious amid ongoing uncertainties.
Key Economic Indicators to Watch
As the market looks ahead, several key economic indicators are on the radar of investors. These include the US Producer Price Index (PPI), consumer confidence readings, and weekly initial jobless claims. Additionally, the People’s Bank of China’s decision regarding its lending rate will also be closely monitored. Analysts believe that these data points will provide further insights into the economic landscape and could influence market sentiment. Choice Broking has highlighted the importance of these indicators, noting that they will play a crucial role in shaping investor expectations and market movements in the coming days.
International Market Trends
In international markets, precious metals have also experienced significant gains. Comex silver futures rose by USD 4.38, or 5.62 percent, reaching USD 82.34 per ounce, while gold gained USD 34.6, closing at USD 5,080.9 per ounce. The recent Supreme Court ruling against global tariffs has reignited volatility and increased safe-haven demand for gold. Analysts have pointed out that the combination of this ruling and rising tensions in the Middle East has introduced a geopolitical risk premium, contributing to silver’s rebound. Despite initial fluctuations in the dollar, which weakened to 97.8, it rebounded after Trump announced a 10 percent global tariff, further supporting bullion prices. The heightened military presence near Iran has also amplified the appeal of gold and silver as safe investments.
