Essential Stock Picks for February 5, 2026: Today’s Top Recommendations

According to Aakash K Hindocha, Deputy Vice President of WM Research at Nuvama Professional Clients Group, investors should consider Petronet, MRPL, and CCL as top stock picks for today. The market has experienced significant volatility, with the Nifty index showing fluctuations since the beginning of the month. Hindocha provides insights into the Nifty and Bank Nifty trends, along with detailed recommendations for each stock, highlighting potential targets and stop-loss levels.

Nifty Index Analysis

The Nifty index has faced considerable ups and downs this month, marked by a notable increase in volatility. The India VIX has surged over 80% since January 1, 2026, indicating heightened market uncertainty. Despite a large gap opening, the index has struggled to maintain its momentum. Analysts suggest that the gap between last week’s highs and this week’s lows is likely to close soon. Traders are encouraged to use this gap as an opportunity to establish long positions, especially with support expected at the rising 200-day moving average. The target for Nifty is set between 25,940 and 26,100, providing a potential upside for investors willing to navigate the current market conditions.

Bank Nifty Performance

The Bank Nifty index has shown a different trajectory, successfully testing last week’s highs during a volatile trading session. Analysts believe that a reversal near the 59,700 mark could present a favorable opportunity for traders to create fresh long positions. The index has encountered significant resistance at 59,650 over the past nine weeks, which is now anticipated to act as support. This technical analysis suggests that the Bank Nifty may continue to strengthen, offering potential gains for investors who strategically enter the market at this juncture.

Stock Recommendations: Petronet

Petronet is highlighted as a strong buy recommendation, with a last closing price of 298. Analysts suggest a stop-loss at 287 and a target price of 324. After breaking out from a 15-month sloping trendline, Petronet has shown signs of momentum, closing at six-month highs. The stock’s recent performance indicates that it could rally by 8-10%, making it an attractive option for momentum buyers looking to capitalize on this upward trend.

Stock Recommendations: MRPL and CCL

MRPL is also recommended as a buy, with a last closing price of 182. The suggested stop-loss is 171, with a target of 201. The stock has rebounded over 30% in the last nine trading sessions, supported by a reversal from the 200-day moving average. If MRPL maintains its current price until the end of the week, it may close at 16-month highs, signaling the end of a two-year corrective phase.

CCL is another stock to watch, currently priced at 1002. Analysts recommend a stop-loss at 957 and a target of 1078. After consolidating for 12 weeks with a negative bias, CCL has shown signs of a trendline breakout this week. This development suggests the potential for a fresh upward movement, possibly returning to its previous highs. Investors are advised to monitor these stocks closely as market conditions evolve.
