Empowering Girls: The NAVYA Initiative Makes Strides Nationwide

The NAVYA initiative, aimed at empowering adolescent girls through vocational training, is making significant progress across various aspirational districts in India. As of December 10, 2025, a total of 1,295 girls have been enrolled in training programs under this initiative, with 671 of them completing their training. This program, launched as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0), focuses on enhancing employability and fostering socio-economic independence among young women.
State-wise Progress of NAVYA Initiative
Across multiple states, the NAVYA initiative is taking root with notable enrollments and training achievements. For instance, in Bihar, Gaya district has seen 160 girls enrolled, with 81 successfully trained. Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, 138 girls are enrolled, and an impressive 119 have completed their training. Other states, such as Madhya Pradesh with 109 enrollments (88 trained) and Punjab with 147 enrollments (99 trained), also showcase the initiative’s success in fostering vocational skills among girls.
Focus on Emerging Job Roles
The NAVYA initiative stands out for its emphasis on modern and non-traditional career paths. Participants are being trained in dynamic fields such as digital marketing, cyber security, and AI-enabled services. Additionally, the program integrates training in essential life skills, including financial literacy and digital competence, to better prepare girls for future workforce demands. This comprehensive approach aims not only to enhance job readiness but also to build confidence and independence among young women.
Implementation in Gujarat
In Gujarat, two districts have been selected for focused implementation of the NAVYA program: Dahod and Narmada. In Narmada, a total of 113 adolescent girls have been enrolled, with 50 having already undergone training. The district of Dahod is currently mobilizing training institutes and engaging participants to kickstart its training sessions.
Government Commitment to Skill Development
This information was revealed by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, during a recent session in the Rajya Sabha. The government’s commitment to skill development through initiatives like NAVYA underscores the importance of empowering young girls to equip them for the challenges of today’s job market.
As NAVYA continues to expand its reach, the future looks promising for adolescent girls gaining valuable skills that will open doors to new opportunities and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow.
