Akshay Kumar Launches Production on Alien Action Thriller ‘Samuk’

Akshay Kumar has officially ventured into uncharted territory with his latest project, “Samuk.” The actor has commenced shooting for this highly anticipated survival-action thriller, marking his seventh collaboration with producer-filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Directed by Kanishk Varma, the film is being shot in London and aims for a large-scale Pan-India theatrical release with global aspirations.

Filming Details and Locations

According to industry sources, filming for “Samuk” began on August 23, 2026. Earlier reports from Variety indicated that the majority of the shoot would take place in London, with approximately 90 percent of the film being shot in the English capital. The remaining portions are planned for Mumbai. Notably, the production is being executed as a single continuous schedule, avoiding the division into multiple shooting segments.

The film has been in development for over two years and combines elements of military realism, survival horror, and alien mythology. To bring this ambitious vision to life, the filmmakers have assembled an international technical team. Academy Award-nominated creature effects designer Alec Gillis, known for his work on iconic franchises like “Alien” and “Predator,” has designed the central alien creature for the film.

Action and Production Team

The action sequences in “Samuk” are being crafted by British action director Luke Tumber, further enhancing the project’s international scope. The filmmakers are prioritizing extensive practical effects, aiming to develop the creature and action elements to function effectively in a live-action environment. This approach reflects a commitment to creating an immersive experience for audiences.

Vipul Amrutlal Shah previously shared insights with Bollywood Hungama, stating, “We are going to shoot extensively abroad. We plan to release it in 2027.” He emphasized that the film is being developed to meet the expectations of audiences who now have access to global cinema through streaming platforms. Shah also noted Akshay Kumar’s significant involvement in the project, highlighting the actor’s active participation in discussions surrounding various aspects of the film.

With filming now underway in London, “Samuk” is shaping up to be one of Akshay Kumar’s most ambitious theatrical projects to date. The film promises to blend a homegrown action star with an international creature-design team, all set against a thrilling alien backdrop.
