Telangana and CSIR Join Forces for Circular Economy
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has recently facilitated a significant partnership aimed at enhancing waste management practices in India. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of Telangana and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in New Delhi. They aim to support domestic waste recycling and secure critical mineral supplies through advanced recycling processes. Furthermore, these agreements foster innovation by encouraging the development of new recycling technologies. They also provide technical assistance to recyclers, helping them improve their existing operations. The signing of these agreements aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call for Mission Circular Economy. This initiative was emphasized during his address on India’s 75th Independence Day. One such regulation is the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, which incentivizes recyclers and integrates the informal sector into formal recycling systems.
