India extends support to SCO Member Countries to enhance legal and judicial capabilities

The SCO is an intergovernmental organization founded in Shanghai in June 2001. Since its inception, the SCO has mainly focused on regional security issues, fighting regional terrorism, ethnic separatism and religious extremism. To date, regional development is also among the SCO’s priorities.

The 10thth The meeting of justice ministers of the SCO began in a cordial atmosphere with the reading of the message of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jingping.

President Xi, in his message, appealed to members to work in a spirit of cooperation and understanding so as to realize the goals and visions of the SCO and optimize its contribution to the holistic development of the region.

All justice ministers of the SCO member countries signed a joint declaration that underlined the cooperation in the field of law and justice achieved over the past 22 years between the member countries. Underlining the agreement reached on the development of the legal systems of the member states of the SCO, taking into account the agreements and tasks envisaged in the SCO Development Strategy 2025, the Ministers of Law and Justice of the member states of the SCO through the Joint Declaration declared the following:

  1. Cooperate between the Ministries of Law and Justice of SCO member countries to strengthen cooperation in the legal and judicial spheres.
  2. Continue work on the implementation of the cooperation agreement
  3. Organize conferences, legal cooperation forums etc. for a better exchange of experiences
  4. Continue the work of the expert working groups on forensic skills and legal services.

It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Ministers of Law and Justice of the SCO in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2024.
