Oath Ceremony to Newly Nominated Members of the Governing Body of the Development and Welfare Board for Department of Social Justice and Empowerment

The Chairman of the De-Notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities Development and Welfare Council (DWBDNC) and the Secretary of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment administered oath to the new members of the DWBDNCs. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment constituted the Development Welfare Committee for De-Notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) on 21-02-2019.

Shri Bharatbhai Babubhai Patani, one of the new appointees, has been working with the DNT (Denotified Tribes) communities in the State of Gujarat for decades. The other appointee, Shri Pravin Shivaji Rao Ghuge, was previously the Chairman of the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

The governing body of the council subsequently discussed various sector issues, including strategies for implementing the “DNT Economic Empowerment Scheme”, which is a central sector program for providing housing, livelihood generation, educational empowerment and health insurance for these communities with a budgetary expenditure of Rs.40.00 crore for the current financial year. The aim of the discussions was to ensure participation of States/UTs and other central government ministries/departments in a convergence mode so as to integrate the needs of DNT communities.
