Central Water Engineering Services officers invited the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu to Rashtrapati Bhavan today (21 August 2023).
Addressing the officials, the President said that water is the basic need for life and the management of water resources has always been an important and challenging task for all generations. He added that central water engineering officials’ contribution to water infrastructure development by providing engineering solutions will make the country more resilient against natural and man-made water crises.
The President said sustainable development of water resources and efficient water management are the key to water security and economic growth. He added that as economic growth increases and urbanization and development increase, there will be a need for optimal use of available resources. He said that the climate change trend has already started to affect the water sector and our country has different topographic and climatic patterns in different regions. He emphasized that central water engineering officials should play a key role in taking a holistic approach to address existing and future challenges. He advised them to put emphasis on developing and managing water resources in a sustainable way.
