India and US Launch Tiger Triumph 2026: A New Era in Disaster Relief

The 5th iteration of the India–US Bilateral Tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise, named Tiger Triumph 2026, commenced with an opening ceremony on November 2, 2026, at the Maritime Warfare Centre in Visakhapatnam. This year, the exercise takes the form of a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) aimed at bolstering coordination, joint planning, and interoperability between the armed forces of both nations during significant HADR operations.

Aims of Tiger Triumph 2026

Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Fleet, and Admiral Joaquin J Martinez de Pinillos, Vice Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, officiated the opening ceremony. The exercise symbolizes the strengthening of strategic maritime cooperation and the evolving defense partnership between India and the United States. This edition specifically targets enhancing interoperability to support Combined Joint All-Domain Operations, concentrating on planning and coordination for large-scale disaster relief initiatives.

Participating Forces

The Indian contingent includes experts from diverse maritime operations in the Indian Navy, ground forces from the Indian Army, and representatives from the Indian Air Force, along with Special Forces personnel from all three branches. Notably, this year’s exercise marks the first participation of a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

On the other side, the US Joint Force brings together specialized representatives from various domains of the US Armed Forces. This includes personnel from the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy, alongside experts in areas such as Space, Cyber, Medical, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
