Ranveer Singh’s Pralay Collaborates with 28 Days Later Prosthetics Team for Zombie Effects

Ranveer Singh is set to star in the upcoming zombie thriller “Pralay,” which aims to redefine the horror genre with a fresh approach to realism. According to a report by Mid-Day, the film’s creators are in talks with the prosthetics team behind the iconic horror film “28 Days Later” (2002) to develop the creature effects. Directed by Jai Mehta, “Pralay” is anticipated to be one of the few mainstream Hindi films to delve into the zombie survival genre, emphasizing practical effects to enhance the viewing experience.

Collaboration with Renowned Prosthetics Artists

The production team has reportedly reached out to several acclaimed prosthetic make-up artists, including Lisa Crawley, Adrian Getley, Barrie Gower, and Kate Hill, all of whom contributed to the prosthetics for “28 Days Later.” An industry source shared insights with the publication, stating, “Pralay is envisioned as a large-scale survival horror film with extensive practical effects. The makers want those infected by the zombies on screen to look terrifying and convincing. They have been considering some of the best prosthetic talents globally, and the 28 Days Later team naturally came up in discussions.”

The final selection of the prosthetics team is expected to be finalized before filming begins, ensuring that the film achieves its desired level of authenticity in depicting the horror elements.

Filming Locations and Storyline

The film’s first major shooting schedule is set to take place in Australia. According to the same source, “Jai has planned an extensive first schedule in Australia, where the team will film a substantial portion of the movie’s post-apocalyptic world. Although the story unfolds in a zombie-ravaged Mumbai, Australia has been chosen for its diverse landscapes.”

Jai Mehta and Vishal Kapoor have co-written the screenplay, but details about the storyline remain largely under wraps. “Pralay” is being positioned as a survival horror film set against the backdrop of a zombie outbreak, promising a thrilling experience for audiences.

Production Schedule and Paternity Leave

Recent reports indicate that Ranveer Singh will commence shooting for “Pralay” next month. Following the initial filming schedule, he is expected to take a planned paternity leave after the birth of his second child with wife Deepika Padukone. According to the report, the actor will complete the film’s initial schedule before the production takes a temporary break, with filming anticipated to resume in 2027 after Ranveer returns from his leave.
