Innovative Legal Reforms Launched at Chintan Shivir 2026

The Ministry of Law and Justice recently hosted a vibrant two-day event, the ‘Reforms Utsav & Chintan Shivir 2026’, in the tranquil setting of Gyan Sarovar, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, on July 4 and 5, 2026. This initiative was spearheaded by the Legislative Department and the Department of Legal Affairs, with the aim of fostering discussions on legal and legislative reforms designed to create a modern, technology-driven, and citizen-focused legal ecosystem.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, inaugurated the event and addressed senior officials and participants. He encouraged the attendees to leverage this occasion as a platform to reflect on the Ministry’s recent accomplishments, engage in meaningful discussions surrounding key reforms, and develop a strategic vision for enhancing India’s legal and legislative framework. In his statement, Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary of both Departments, articulated a clear vision for an efficient and accessible legal infrastructure that aligns with the national aspiration of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Welcoming participants, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Additional Secretary of the Legislative Department, introduced the theme and objectives of the shivir. The program featured breakout sessions concentrating on various crucial aspects such as legal governance, legislative reforms, digital transformation, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence. Senior officials engaged in lively discussions, sharing insights on actionable strategies to enhance governance and improve service delivery within the legal system.

A key outcome of this fruitful gathering was the creation of a comprehensive vision document that outlines concrete reform proposals and institutional strengthening measures tailored for the Ministry.

During the Valedictory Session, Dr. Rajiv Mani unveiled the ‘Sankalp Patra’, a declaration embodying the collective commitment to uphold the Constitution, ensure integrity in public service, and strive for excellence in legal governance. The Sankalp Patra stressed the importance of simplifying laws, enhancing accessibility, and responsibly utilizing technology and digital tools to build institutions prepared for future challenges.

Minister Meghwal congratulated all participants for their dedication and contributions, recognizing their collaborative efforts in shaping a forward-thinking reform agenda aimed at building a modern, technology-driven, and citizen-centric legal ecosystem. The Reforms Utsav & Chintan Shivir 2026 showcases the Ministry’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and effective policymaking, reinforcing the path towards a stronger legal framework in India, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
