Youth parliament competition 2024-25 awards ceremony set for july 7
The 17th National Youth Parliament Competition for Universities and Colleges is gearing up for a grand prize distribution event on July 7, 2026, at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in New Delhi. The ceremony will commence at 3:00 PM, with Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Minister of State for Law and Justice, presiding over the occasion and presenting awards to the winners from various institutions.
This year, the University of Kashmir emerged victorious in the competition, earning the prestigious Atal Bihari Vajpayee Running Parliamentary Shield. During the event, students from the university will showcase a reprise of their acclaimed Youth Parliament Sitting, highlighting their impressive performance.
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has a long-standing tradition of organizing Youth Parliament Competitions for the past 29 years. This year’s event saw participation from 51 universities and colleges across the nation. The objectives of the Youth Parliament Scheme include fostering self-discipline, tolerance for diverse opinions, and encouraging democratic values among the younger generation.
In addition to familiarizing students with parliamentary practices, the competition aims to cultivate essential skills such as discussion, debate, leadership, and oratory. This initiative has proven to be instrumental in shaping future leaders and informed citizens.
Alongside the top honors for the University of Kashmir, the competition also recognized seven other institutions for their exemplary performances at the group level. The following universities and colleges will receive trophies in acknowledgment of their achievements:

- Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal
- Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra
- Central University of Punjab, Bathinda
- SSMRV College, Bengaluru, Karnataka
- Chanakya National Law University, Patna, Bihar
- Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana
