Infosys Reports Q4 FY26 Results: Net Profit Increases 21% to Rs 8,501 Crore

India’s second-largest IT services firm, Infosys, has reported a robust 20.8% increase in consolidated net profit for the January to March quarter, reaching Rs 8,501 crore. The company also projected a revenue growth forecast of 1.5% to 3.5% for the financial year 2027, driven by strong performance in sectors such as financial services, utilities, and artificial intelligence. Despite these positive results, Infosys faced a decline in its American depositary receipts in pre-market trading in the U.S., reflecting broader concerns about the economic landscape.

Strong Quarterly Performance

Infosys reported a significant rise in revenue from operations, which climbed 13.4% year-on-year to Rs 46,402 crore for the fourth quarter of FY26, compared to Rs 40,925 crore in the same quarter last year. For the entire financial year 2025-26, the company achieved a net profit of Rs 29,440 crore, marking a 10.2% increase from Rs 26,713 crore in the previous year. Revenue for the full year also rose by 9.6%, totaling Rs 1,78,650 crore. The company’s leadership expressed optimism about future growth, particularly in artificial intelligence services, as they anticipate an acceleration in financial services and energy sectors.

Economic Outlook and Challenges

While Infosys began the year on a strong note, senior management acknowledged the impact of geopolitical tensions, particularly in West Asia, on the economic environment. CEO Salil Parekh noted that despite these challenges, there are signs of stabilization. He emphasized the resilience of economies in key markets, highlighting ongoing investments and growth in AI. However, the company’s peers, such as HCLTech and Wipro, have pointed out the uncertain macroeconomic conditions, including volatile demand and geopolitical risks, which could affect the industry.

Workforce Dynamics

As of the end of Q4 FY26, Infosys reported a total workforce of 3,28,594, reflecting a decrease of 8,440 employees from the previous quarter but an increase of 5,016 compared to the same period last year. Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka attributed the quarterly decline to softer market demand and broader economic dynamics. Despite this, Infosys successfully onboarded over 20,000 fresh graduates in FY26 and plans to maintain a similar hiring pace in FY27, aiming to recruit at least another 20,000 new employees.

Market Reaction

Ahead of the earnings announcement, Infosys shares closed 2.04% lower at Rs 1,242 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Following the release of the quarterly results, the company’s American depositary receipts fell by approximately 5% in U.S. pre-market trading. This decline reflects investor concerns regarding the uncertain macroeconomic environment, which has been echoed by other firms in the IT sector. As Infosys navigates these challenges, its focus on growth in key sectors and strategic hiring may play a crucial role in its future performance.
