IPL 2026 Auction Insights: A Comprehensive Look at Remaining Budgets for All 10 Teams

With the IPL 2026 mini auction approaching, all ten franchises have finalized their squads, revealing which players have been retained and which have been released. The auction’s dynamics will be influenced by the available budget each team carries, with some franchises boasting substantial funds while others have limited resources. This year’s auction promises to be a pivotal moment for teams as they look to reshape their rosters for the upcoming season.

Kolkata Knight Riders Lead the Pack

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) enter the IPL 2026 mini auction with the largest budget, holding a remarkable Rs 64.3 crore. The franchise has undergone a significant overhaul, appointing Abhishek Nayar as head coach, supported by Shane Watson and Tim Southee. This new leadership team faces the challenge of rebuilding the squad after a disappointing previous season. With ample funds at their disposal, KKR aims to make strategic acquisitions that will enhance their competitiveness in the league.

Chennai Super Kings and Their Rebuild

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have the second-largest budget, standing at Rs 43.4 crore. Following a lackluster performance that saw them finish at the bottom of the IPL 2025 standings, the team has opted for a major overhaul. Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK has released ten players, including notable names like Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway. This strategic move signals a commitment to rebuilding the team and returning to form in the upcoming season.

Other Teams Adjusting Their Strategies

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), captained by Pat Cummins, has freed up Rs 25.5 crore by parting ways with six players, including Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar. This decision reflects the team’s intent to fine-tune their roster ahead of the new season. Similarly, Lucknow Supergiants, led by Rishabh Pant, enter the auction with Rs 22.9 crore after releasing seven players, including David Miller and Ravi Bishnoi. The Delhi Capitals, with a budget of Rs 21.8 crore, have also made significant changes, letting go of six players, including Faf du Plessis.

Franchises with Limited Budgets

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the defending champions, have Rs 16.4 crore available after releasing several players, including Liam Livingstone. They are likely to focus on minor adjustments to their already strong core. The Rajasthan Royals have Rs 16.05 crore after releasing key players, including Wanindu Hasaranga. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, will enter the auction with Rs 12.9 crore, having released five players. The Punjab Kings, last season’s runners-up, have Rs 11.5 crore to work with after parting ways with three Australians. Lastly, the Mumbai Indians find themselves at the bottom of the purse list with only Rs 2.75 crore, necessitating clever, low-budget acquisitions to strengthen their squad.
