Purple Fest 2025: Focus on Enthusiasm, Inclusion, and Empowerment

The Purple Fest 2025, held at Amity University in Noida, concluded on September 11 with a remarkable turnout of over 1,800 registered visitors. The event aimed to promote inclusivity and celebrate the achievements of persons with disabilities. During the valedictory session, Ms. Richa Shankar, Deputy Director General of DEPwD, highlighted the importance of integrating individuals with disabilities into society and schools, emphasizing the festival’s role in fostering a spirit of acceptance and celebration.
Celebrating Inclusivity and Achievement
The valedictory session featured a report by Dr. Jayanti Pujari from Amity University, along with reflections from Professor Sanjiv Bansal, Pro Vice Chancellor of the university. They noted that the objectives of Purple Fest had been successfully met, showcasing the event’s commitment to inclusivity. The festival served as a platform for individuals with disabilities to demonstrate their talents and achievements, reinforcing the message that everyone deserves equal recognition and opportunities.
Engaging Cultural and Sporting Events
The day was filled with vibrant cultural and sporting activities that energized participants. The sports segment included five major games: Cricket, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, and Table Tennis, attracting both indoor and outdoor competitors. A standout moment was the inclusive cricket match, where Amity University students teamed up with deaf students from ISLRTC, exemplifying the true spirit of camaraderie and inclusion. This event not only provided entertainment but also fostered connections among participants, breaking down barriers and promoting understanding.
Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship and Education
The festival also featured a Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) Programme, aimed at enhancing skills and knowledge among participants. Additionally, 22 entrepreneurship stalls showcased various organizations, including Amar Jyoti and Art by Heart, offering visibility and support to Divyangjan entrepreneurs. The stalls received enthusiastic responses, highlighting the community’s entrepreneurial spirit. Furthermore, 200 accessible “Veergatha” books were distributed at the ISLRTC stall, ensuring that valuable resources were available to the community.
Acknowledging Contributions and Achievements
The event was graced by Sh. S.K. Srivastava, with closing remarks delivered by Sh. Kumar Raju, Director of ISLRTC. He commended the organizing team’s efforts and the active participation of attendees. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded by Ms. Richa Shankar to the organizing team and to 16 candidates who completed a Mobile Repair Course at ISLRTC. This recognition marked a significant step towards skill development and empowerment for individuals with disabilities, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to fostering an inclusive society.
