Google Renames Find My Device Network to Find Hub

Google has unveiled a significant rebranding of its Find My Device network, now called Find Hub, during The Android Show: I/O Edition. This new name comes with enhanced features and expanded partnerships aimed at improving user experience in locating lost items. Notably, the tech giant has introduced a feature that allows users to detect and disable hidden trackers, further enhancing privacy and security.
Rebranding and New Features
Google’s rebranding of its Find My Device network to Find Hub marks a pivotal shift in its location tracking technology. While the name change primarily serves as a rebranding effort, it also introduces new capabilities and expands the range of devices compatible with the network. The company aims to enhance user experience by providing more options for tracking lost items and devices.
The updated Find Hub network will feature partnerships with various consumer brands, including July, Mokobara, Peak, and Pixbee. These collaborations will allow users to track a wider array of products. For instance, July and Mokobara are launching luggage equipped with built-in trackers, enabling travelers to easily locate their bags during trips. Additionally, Peak, a skiing company based in Montana, plans to release skis with integrated tracking technology. Meanwhile, Pixbee, an Australian brand focused on children’s wearables, is set to introduce Disney-themed Bluetooth tags that will also support the Find Hub network.
Integration of Advanced Tracking Technology
In a bid to enhance its tracking capabilities, Google is integrating nearby finding features with ultra-wideband (UWB) enabled tags. The first product to utilize this technology is the Moto Tag, which has recently launched in India. This tracker supports the Find Hub network and introduces a new โPrecision Findingโ feature, allowing users to locate lost items even when the tag is offline. Priced at Rs. 2,299, the Moto Tag is available in two color options: Jade Green and Starlight Blue.
Moreover, Google plans to incorporate satellite connectivity into the Find Hub network later this year. This feature will enable users to remain connected with friends and family, even in areas lacking cellular service. Such advancements are expected to significantly improve the reliability and functionality of the Find Hub network.
Partnerships with Airlines for Enhanced Luggage Tracking
In addition to consumer products, Google is forging partnerships with several major airlines, including Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, and Singapore Airlines. This collaboration aims to streamline the process of locating lost luggage for travelers. By allowing users to share the location of their Bluetooth tags with these airlines, Google hopes to make luggage recovery a more efficient and seamless experience.
The integration of Find Hub with airline systems is expected to enhance the travel experience, providing peace of mind to passengers who often worry about lost belongings. With these partnerships, Google is positioning Find Hub as a comprehensive solution for tracking not just personal devices, but also travel essentials.
