Scheduled from March 3 to March 8, 2025, in New Delhi, this initiative will gather 47 senior officials from National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) across 14 countries in the Global South. The program aims to enhance human rights awareness and strengthen international cooperation.
Participants from Diverse Nations
The upcoming program will welcome representatives from a diverse group of 14 countries, including Madagascar, Uganda, Samoa, Timor Leste, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Togo, Mali, Nigeria, Egypt, Tanzania, Mauritius, Burundi, Turkmenistan, and Qatar. This initiative is tailored to meet the specific needs of the participating NHRIs, based on prior feedback. The NHRC has engaged eminent experts in the field of human rights to serve as resource persons, ensuring that participants receive high-quality training and insights.
Objectives and Expected Outcomes
The primary goal of the program is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of various dimensions of human rights and international perspectives. By sharing NHRC India’s experiences over the past three decades, the program aims to enhance awareness and knowledge among the NHRIs. Key outcomes include improved understanding of international human rights frameworks, insights into NHRC India’s best practices, and strengthened networking opportunities among NHRIs. The initiative also seeks to foster collaborations and partnerships at both regional and international levels, ultimately enhancing the capacity of participants to promote and protect human rights.
Engaging Learning Experience
Participants will engage in a variety of learning activities, including lectures and interactive sessions led by distinguished experts and practitioners in the field of human rights. The program will also feature cultural immersion experiences and field visits, providing a well-rounded understanding of human rights issues. This initiative is part of NHRC’s ongoing outreach efforts to promote a deeper understanding of human rights and build capacity among senior officials of NHRIs, ensuring they are better equipped to address human rights challenges in their respective countries.
