Aysel Gürel (7 February 1929 – 17 February 2008) was a Turkish lyricist and actress. Besides her lyrics, which were performed by singers throughout Turkey, she was known for her outlandish clothing, makeup, and wigs.

Life and Career

Aysel Gürel was born on 7 February 1929 in Denizli, Turkey, in the western part of the country. Her lyrics were performed by such noted Turkish singers as Sezen Aksu. Gürel also worked as an actress, drama player and Turkologist.

Gürel began her career as a lyricist in the 1990s and quickly established herself as one of the most talented and sought-after writers in the Turkish music scene. Throughout her career, Gürel has been recognized for her ability to capture the essence of human emotions and experiences in her lyrics, and she is widely admired for her poetic sensibility and musical sophistication.
