YouTube Music Introduces Streamlined Song Discovery Feature
YouTube Music is set to enhance user experience with a new feature that allows listeners to quickly locate songs within their playlists. The “Find in playlist” tool aims to eliminate the tedious scrolling through lengthy playlists, enabling users to search for specific tracks in seconds. Currently, this feature is in the testing phase and is available to a limited number of users, primarily on iPhones.
YouTube’s Find in Playlist: Compatible Devices
The “Find in playlist” feature has initially appeared on the YouTube Music app for iPhones, specifically for users with version 8.45.3. Early adopters have discovered this option in the overflow menu on playlist pages, conveniently located just below the “Shuffle play” button. However, it is important to note that this feature is not yet available on the Android version of the app. Google is conducting A/B testing, which means that even among iPhone users, access to the feature varies. Only a select group can utilize this option, and there is no confirmed timeline for a broader rollout or support for Android devices.
How to Use the Playlist Search Tool
For those who have access to the “Find in playlist” feature, using it is straightforward. Users can follow these simple steps: First, open any playlist in the YouTube Music app. Next, tap the three-dot menu located at the top of the playlist page. From there, choose the “Find in playlist” option. Users can then enter the name of the desired song in the search bar and select the track from the results to begin playback. This new functionality allows listeners to bypass lengthy scrolling sessions, making it easier to find and enjoy their favorite songs immediately.
Points to Note Before Using the Feature
It is essential for users to understand that the “Find in playlist” tool is not universally available. Updating the app does not guarantee access, as Google is rolling out the feature in phases. Many iPhone users may not see it until their accounts are included in the test group. Currently, Android users do not have access to this feature. Additionally, the search function is limited to regular playlists, meaning that radio playlists saved in the library still require manual scrolling. As with many gradual feature rollouts, YouTube Music may expand support to additional playlist formats and platforms in the future.
