Vicky Kaushal to Bulk Up by 25 kg for Mahavatar, Teams Up Again with Chhaava Fitness Coach

Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for a significant physical transformation for his upcoming mythological film, Mahavatar. The actor will once again collaborate with fitness coach Tejas Lalwani, who previously assisted him in preparing for Chhaava (2025). Kaushal is set to portray the legendary warrior sage Parashurama, a character that demands an impressive physical presence.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Kaushal’s training is scheduled to commence in September, just three months before filming begins in December. This transformation is expected to be even more intense than his previous one for Chhaava.

Major Weight Gain for the Role

To convincingly embody Parashurama, one of the most revered figures in Hindu mythology, Kaushal is reportedly set to gain over 25 kilograms. A source revealed that the actor previously increased his weight from 80 kg to 105 kg for Chhaava. For Mahavatar, he will need to appear even larger to align with the traditional depiction of the character.

Parashurama is described in ancient texts as a towering figure endowed with invincibility and immortality. To reflect this on screen, Kaushal will need to develop a broad chest and immense physical strength, along with the ability to wield the divine axe, parashu, during various action sequences.

Training, Nutrition, and Recovery Plan

Kaushal’s preparation will focus on three essential components: training, nutrition, and recovery. Fitness coach Tejas Lalwani and nutritionist Alkesh Sharotri have crafted an intensive program aimed at building muscle mass and strength. His workouts will likely include compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and pull-ups, with progressive increases in weight and repetitions.

On the nutrition side, Kaushal’s daily calorie intake is expected to rise by 250 to 500 calories to facilitate muscle growth. His diet will include protein-rich foods, nuts, dairy products, and whole grains to support his transformation.

Recovery will also play a vital role in Kaushal’s regimen. Reports indicate that he will need approximately eight hours of sleep each night to aid muscle repair. Additionally, each muscle group will receive at least 48 hours of rest before being trained again, ensuring proper recovery and sustained physical development.

Mahavatar will mark Kaushal’s second collaboration with fitness coach Tejas Lalwani after Chhaava. The duo previously worked together on the historical drama, where Kaushal underwent a significant body transformation to portray Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
