Union Minister Offers Condolences to Families of Road Accident Victims

In a somber visit today, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reached out to the families mourning the loss of their loved ones from the tragic road accident that occurred in Anjaw district, Arunachal Pradesh. The incident, which claimed several lives, has particularly affected families from Assam, including those from the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, leaving the region enveloped in grief.

During his visit to Gelapukhuri in Tinsukia district, Sonowal expressed his heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families. He reassured them that the government stands firmly by their side as they navigate through this difficult time. “My deepest condolences to the families of the victims and prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured. In this time of grief, we stand firmly with those affected,” Sonowal stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to support.

Continuous Monitoring and Support

Following the accident, the minister has been actively monitoring the situation. He has been in communication with the Chief Secretary of Assam, urging a close collaboration with officials in Arunachal Pradesh. Sonowal has directed all relevant government agencies to work jointly to ensure that rescue and relief efforts are conducted swiftly and efficiently.

A coordinated rescue operation is ongoing at the accident site, with teams tirelessly working to complete all necessary procedures.

Government Assistance Announced

In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Additionally, the Assam Government has declared financial support to help the families affected by this devastating incident.

Sonowal, calling the loss “irreparable,” expressed deep empathy for the pain felt by the bereaved families. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to provide every possible assistance. As he prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls, he also wished for strength for the families to endure their profound loss.
