National Zoological Park, New Delhi celebrates World Snake Day today

National Zoological Park, New Delhi (Delhi Zoo) celebrated World Snake Day on 16.07.2023. The purpose of celebrating World Snake Day is to protect snakes by raising awareness about snakes of India, miscreant snakes and the importance of snakes in our ecosystem. On this occasion, an enrichment activity was carried out by the serpentary staff by supplying furniture for cages in the reptile house. Planting was also conducted inside snake houses.

At the reptile house interaction with approx 350 visitors and young children was conducted on snakes and healthy lifestyle following the LiFE mission. A walk through the reptile house was conducted and visitors interacted with the snake keepers. During this visit, visitors enthusiastically participated and learned about the zoo’s role in snake conservation. Reptile literature was also distributed to visitors. Currently the National Zoological Park has 31 no of snakes of 07 species.
