Snapdragon X CPUs Set to Launch in India

Snapdragon India has exciting news for tech enthusiasts. The company announced the upcoming launch of its new Snapdragon X CPUs in India. These chipsets were first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 last month. Snapdragon aims to compete with affordable offerings from industry giants like Intel and AMD. The Snapdragon X CPUs are designed to support artificial intelligence (AI) features, thanks to a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). The company plans to target laptops priced under $600 (approximately Rs. 51,400) globally, and similar strategies may be employed in the Indian market.

Launch Date and Event Details

Snapdragon India revealed that the official launch of the Snapdragon X platform will take place on February 24, 2025. The announcement was made via a post on X (formerly Twitter). The event has been branded as “AI PCs for Everyone,” indicating that the new processors will focus on delivering AI capabilities at an accessible price point. This approach could democratize advanced computing technology, making it available to a broader audience.

The Snapdragon X CPUs are expected to be versatile, supporting various thermal designs and form factors. This flexibility could appeal to manufacturers and consumers alike, as it allows for a range of devices that cater to different needs. The anticipation surrounding this launch is palpable, as many are eager to see how these new processors will perform in real-world applications.

Specifications and Performance Expectations

While specific details about the Snapdragon X CPUs are still under wraps, some specifications have been hinted at. The CPUs are likely to be built on a 4-nanometre fabrication process. They will feature eight Oryon CPU cores, with a peak clock speed reaching up to 3GHz. Although this speed is lower than that of the Snapdragon X Plus and Elite variants, which can reach up to 3.4GHz and 3.8GHz respectively, it still promises robust performance.

The Qualcomm Adreno GPU will support up to three external displays at 4K resolution and 60Hz refresh rates. Additionally, the Snapdragon X CPUs will support up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM, with a total cache of 30MB and a memory bandwidth of 135GB/s. The inclusion of a Hexagon NPU is particularly noteworthy, as it can deliver an impressive 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance. Devices powered by these new chipsets will also be certified as Microsoft Copilot+ PCs, further enhancing their appeal.

Battery Life and Connectivity Features

One of the standout features of the Snapdragon X CPUs is their impressive battery life. The company claims that these new chipsets can offer up to two times longer battery life compared to competing processors. This is a significant advantage for users who rely on their devices for extended periods without access to charging. Additionally, the Snapdragon X CPUs promise up to 163 percent faster performance than other processors in the market.

Connectivity is another area where the Snapdragon X CPUs excel. They will support advanced technologies such as 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. The inclusion of USB 4 Type-C connectivity further enhances their versatility, allowing for faster data transfer and charging capabilities. These features position the Snapdragon X CPUs as a compelling option for consumers looking for high-performance laptops that do not compromise on battery life or connectivity options.
