New CBSE Experience Centre Launched to Enhance Learning
In a significant step towards modernizing education in India, Union Minister for Education, Shri Pralhad Joshi, officially inaugurated the CBSE Experience Centre at the CBSE Integrated Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi. This innovative Centre aims to provide students with an immersive learning environment, extending beyond traditional textbooks and curriculum.
The Experience Centre is designed to reflect the goals outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. During the inauguration, Joshi emphasized the importance of moving away from rote memorization and examination-centric learning. He highlighted that education should cater to individual interests, abilities, and learning styles, fostering confidence and real-world application of knowledge.
Encouraging Experiential Learning
Shri Pralhad Joshi articulated that the Centre embodies the shift towards experiential and holistic learning. By nurturing curiosity and independent thought, it prepares students to face future challenges. He noted that practical learning opportunities—instead of purely theoretical knowledge—are essential for cultivating innovation and scientific understanding among students.
Referring to the successful Atal Tinkering Labs initiative, which has led to the establishment of 10,000 labs nationwide, Joshi announced plans to launch an additional 50,000 labs. These environments aim to spark creativity and critical thinking in young minds.
A Journey Through India’s Educational Landscape
The CBSE Experience Centre is not just a learning facility; it is a journey through the history of education in India. Spanning 6,000 square feet, the Centre features 12 zones and 21 interactive exhibits, allowing visitors to use RFID-enabled smart cards for engaging experiences. The journey begins with **‘Shiksha Ki Kahani’**, an engaging film showcasing the evolution of knowledge from ancient gurukuls to contemporary digital classrooms.
Visitors will also find a special section dedicated to the history of the CBSE, complete with archival photographs from 1935 onward, revealing the Board’s pivotal role in shaping the school education system. Additionally, interactive displays, such as **‘Career Explorer’** and **‘Magic Mirror: Future You’**, invite students to explore various career paths and envision their futures.
Innovative Features and Future Prospects
The Centre also includes holographic interactions with historic figures like Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, providing a unique educational experience. A special kiosk focused on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book **‘Exam Warriors’** aims to support students in developing healthier approaches to testing by promoting confidence and stress management techniques.
Finally, the immersive experience culminates in **‘Eduverse’**, which combines motion interaction and sensory elements to explore diverse natural environments, emphasizing the interconnectedness of life on Earth. The Centre seeks to inspire students not just as learners, but as future contributors to society and champions of India’s development by 2047.
