Sangeeta Bijlani Seeks Gun License Following Farmhouse Theft

Actress Sangeeta Bijlani has taken a significant step towards enhancing her personal safety by applying for a gun license. This decision comes in the wake of a distressing burglary at her farmhouse near Pavana, which has left her feeling vulnerable and concerned about her security. Despite her efforts to seek updates from local authorities, the investigation into the incident has progressed slowly, prompting Bijlani to take matters into her own hands.

Burglary Incident Details

In July, Sangeeta Bijlani’s farmhouse was targeted by unidentified intruders who vandalized her property and stole valuables. The burglars not only took Rs. 50,000 in cash and a television worth Rs. 7,000 but also damaged household items, including the refrigerator and furniture. Disturbingly, they left behind obscene graffiti on the walls, which Bijlani described as deeply unsettling. Reflecting on the incident, she expressed her relief that she was not present during the break-in, stating, “It was scary.” The actress emphasized that the burglary has not only affected her but has also instilled fear among the residents of Pavana, particularly senior citizens and families.

Concerns Over Safety

Bijlani has been a resident of Pavana for over 20 years, and the recent crime has shaken her sense of security. During a meeting with Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill, she sought updates on the investigation, which has seen little progress despite the passage of three and a half months since the theft. Bijlani noted that the police assured her they would thoroughly investigate the case and apprehend the culprits. However, the lack of significant breakthroughs has left her and her neighbors feeling increasingly unsafe in their community.

Application for Gun License

In light of the burglary, Bijlani has formally applied for a firearm license from the Pune rural police. She explained her decision, stating, “As a woman, if I go alone to the house, I think some sort of protection needs to be there.” This marks a significant shift for Bijlani, who has never felt the need for a firearm until now. She expressed her concerns about safety, saying, “This is the first time I am feeling insecure and a little afraid.” Her application reflects a growing sentiment among residents in the area, who are increasingly worried about their safety following the recent crime.

Community Impact and Future Steps

The burglary at Bijlani’s farmhouse has raised alarms within the Pavana community, prompting discussions about safety measures and the need for a more robust police presence. Bijlani hopes that the authorities will expedite the investigation and implement stronger security measures to restore confidence among residents. As she awaits a decision on her firearm application, both Bijlani and local law enforcement are under pressure to resolve the case swiftly and ensure the safety of the community. The actress’s experience highlights the broader concerns of safety that many residents are currently facing in the area.
