Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks with President Putin

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation today with the President of the Russian Federation HE Vladimir Putin.

The two leaders reviewed progress on a number of bilateral cooperation issues and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including at the recently concluded BRICS summit in Johannesburg.

President Putin communicated his inability to attend the G20 summit to be held in New Delhi on 9 and 10 September 2023 and informed that Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation HE Sergey Lavrov.

While expressing sympathy for Russia’s decision, the Prime Minister thanked President Putin for Russia’s continued support for all initiatives under India’s G20 presidency.

The two leaders agreed to stay in touch.
