President Murmu Honours Manipur at Civic Reception
On the evening of December 11, 2025, President Droupadi Murmu attended a civic reception hosted by the Manipur government at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. During this significant event, she laid the foundation stones and inaugurated several developmental projects aimed at uplifting the region.
During her address, President Murmu extolled Manipur as a land renowned for its resilience, courage, and profound cultural heritage. She highlighted how, over generations, the people of Manipur have made remarkable contributions to various fields, including sports, the armed forces, arts, culture, and public service, enriching the entire nation in the process.
Addressing the recent turmoil in Manipur, President Murmu acknowledged the pain and challenges faced by its residents due to unfortunate violence. She reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the people of Manipur, emphasizing that restoring harmony, ensuring security, and fostering development are the top priorities of the Union Government. The President assured that efforts would continue to make equitable development a reality across the State, ensuring that the benefits of progress reach every corner.
President Murmu also acknowledged Manipur’s strategic position as the gateway to India’s vibrant engagement with Southeast Asia. She spoke of the state’s abundant potential, buoyed by its youthful population, diverse culture, and stunning natural beauty. Furthermore, she celebrated the legacy of self-empowerment among Manipuri women, referring to the historic Nupee Lal or women’s wars of the early 20th century, where brave women stood up against colonial and feudal powers, securing their rightful demands.
Expressing confidence in the hardworking and talented people of Manipur, the President encouraged unity among the residents of both the valley and hills. She urged them to foster renewed harmony and strive for prosperity and happiness.
