Pooja Meri Jaan Secures ‘A’ Certificate; Mrunal Thakur Stars in Her Second Adult Film Following Love Sonia
Mrunal Thakur has had a busy year in 2026, showcasing her versatility across various genres. The year kicked off with the romantic film, Do Deewane Seher Mein, followed by the Pan-India film Dacoit, where she shared the screen with Adivi Sesh. She then appeared in the comic caper Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hai, alongside Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde. As the year comes to a close, Thakur is set to release Pooja Meri Jaan on Zee5 next Friday, October 2.
A Shift in Ratings for Pooja Meri Jaan
While Mrunal Thakur has primarily starred in films that have received a ‘U’ or U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Pooja Meri Jaan marks a notable exception. This courtroom drama-cum-thriller has been awarded an ‘A’ rating, which was confirmed on September 15. The film has a runtime of 117.32 minutes, translating to 1 hour, 57 minutes, and 32 seconds.
The only other film featuring Thakur that received an ‘A’ rating was Love Sonia in 2018. In addition to Thakur, Pooja Meri Jaan stars Huma Qureshi and Vikram Singh Chauhan. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, which has now released two consecutive ‘A’ rated films, following Cocktail 2 earlier this year.
Unique Censor Certification for The Vvaan
In a separate development, The Vvaan, featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, has been granted a censor certificate with no cuts. The CBFC issued the certificate on September 22, but later realized that they had not included the mention of Audio Description (AD) and Closed/Open Captions (CC/OC) in accordance with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s accessibility standards for theatrical cinema.
Upon recognizing the oversight, the CBFC promptly issued a new certificate that included the necessary details. Consequently, the makers of The Vvaan received two censor certificates, each with different serial numbers. This occurrence is considered rare, as it is uncommon for a film to be issued two certificates without any changes to its runtime. The main Certificate Number remained the same on both documents.
CBFC’s Chief Executive Officer, Rajendra Singh, did not respond to requests for comment. However, CBFC chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati stated, “It’s merely a technical correction to the same Certificate.”
