PM Modi to Launch Key Development Projects in Kerala

On January 23, 2026, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to visit Kerala, where he will announce the launch of several key development initiatives. The Prime Minister will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram around 10:45 AM to lay the foundation stone, inaugurate various projects, and address an audience gathered for the occasion.

Boosting Rail Connectivity

One of the highlights of the visit will be a significant enhancement in rail connectivity. Prime Minister Modi will flag off four new train services, which include three Amrit Bharat Express trains and one additional passenger train. The new services are as follows: the Nagercoil-Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express, the Thiruvananthapuram-Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express, and the Thiruvananthapuram-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, along with a passenger train connecting Thrissur to Guruvayur. This development aims to improve long-distance and regional travel among Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, offering more affordable, safer, and time-efficient transportation options.

Empowering Urban Livelihoods

In a move to enhance financial inclusion for street vendors, PM Modi will launch the PM SVANidhi Credit Card. This initiative marks the next stage in providing interest-free revolving credit linked to UPI, facilitating instant liquidity for users while encouraging digital transactions. Furthermore, the Prime Minister will disburse loans to one lakh beneficiaries from Kerala, which is expected to help in building formal credit histories and support poverty alleviation among urban informal workers.

Advancing Science and Innovation

During the visit, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the CSIR-NIIST Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub. This hub, located in Thiruvananthapuram, aims to foster advancements in life sciences and bio-economy by integrating traditional knowledge systems, such as Ayurveda, with modern biotechnology. It will focus on promoting startups, facilitating technology transfers, and encouraging global collaboration to transform research into market-ready solutions.

Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure

Another significant focus will be on healthcare improvements. The Prime Minister will establish a Radiosurgery Centre at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. This state-of-the-art facility is set to provide precise and minimally invasive treatment options for complex brain disorders, thereby enhancing healthcare capabilities in the region.

Modernizing Citizen Services

The visit will also see the inauguration of the new Poojappura Head Post Office in Thiruvananthapuram. This modern, technology-enabled facility will strengthen citizen-centric services by offering a comprehensive range of postal, banking, insurance, and digital services, ultimately enhancing service delivery to the public.
