Patriotic Celebrations Mark Parakram Diwas in Andaman Islands
Parakram Diwas was marked with exceptional patriotic zeal at Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to celebrate the legacy and spirit of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The event was honored by the presence of Admiral V. K. Joshi (Retd.), the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, who served as the Chief Guest. The Prime Minister of India also addressed the gathering through a video message, underscoring the significance of this historic occasion.
In his message, the Prime Minister acknowledged the great sacrifices made by Netaji, highlighting his bravery, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication to India’s struggle for freedom. He pointed out the profound historical significance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in relation to Netaji’s ideals, stressing that his vision continues to resonate in India’s pursuit of becoming a self-reliant and developed nation.
During the ceremony, Shri Madhavan Pillai, a distinguished veteran of the Indian National Army (INA), was honored for his lifelong commitment to the nation under Netaji’s leadership. Additionally, Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, shared insightful remarks about the importance of Parakram Diwas Celebrations 2026 and their unique connection to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The festivities included the remote inauguration of a month-long exhibition on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island, along with a series of cultural events scheduled for January 24th and 25th at the ITF Ground.
The evening’s celebrations showcased vibrant cultural performances that captured the essence of patriotism. A mesmerizing drone show depicted the life, ideals, and heroic journey of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the Azad Hind Fauj, thrilling the audience with its vivid imagery.
The event was graced by dignitaries, Armed Forces members, students, and local citizens, all united in tribute to one of India’s most cherished freedom fighters. In addition to the main celebration in the Andaman Islands, Parakram Diwas was commemorated at 13 significant locations across India that are closely linked to Netaji’s life and legacy, including cities like Cuttack, Kolkata, and Delhi.
The cultural segment featured outstanding performances by artists from around the nation. Notable sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, along with his sons, enchanted the audience with a soulful rendition of Raag Bageshri. The talented duo Sourendro–Soumyojit presented the classic patriotic song “Dhono Dhanyo Pushpa Bhara” while folk singer Mangli offered a stirring Shiv Stotra. Renowned vocalist Papon paid tribute to Netaji with his compelling performance “Subhas Ji,” and the choral rendition of the Indian National Army’s anthem “Subh Sukh Chain Ki” echoed the values of sacrifice and national pride. Smt. Pratibha Singh Baghel’s rendition of “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon” deeply moved attendees, while musician Raghu Dixit closed the event with an invigorating performance of “Tiranga,” inspiring a wave of patriotism among the crowd.
