OnePlus 13: A Flagship with Enhanced Security Features

The OnePlus 13 has made its debut as the latest flagship smartphone from the renowned tech company. Launched on January 7, it is now available in India and other global markets. This device is packed with cutting-edge features, including Hasselblad-branded cameras, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and an impressive 6,000mAh battery. One of the standout features of the OnePlus 13 is its ability to be located even when it is powered off or the battery is dead. This capability is part of the device’s advanced anti-theft measures, which were previously exclusive to select Pixel devices.

OnePlus 13 Supports Google’s Find My Network

The OnePlus 13 introduces a significant anti-theft feature known as “Powered Off Finding.” This feature allows users to track their lost or stolen devices, even when they are offline or turned off. Users can ring their device or view its location on a map, making it easier to recover lost smartphones.

This innovative feature relies on encrypted location data sent by the owner’s device and other devices connected to Google’s Find My Device network. When the OnePlus 13 is connected to this network, it securely shares the location information of nearby devices, enhancing the chances of locating a lost phone.

The technology behind this feature is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which integrates advanced mobile connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and Ultra Wideband (UWB) capabilities. This integration is optimized with artificial intelligence, ensuring efficient and accurate location tracking. Gadgets 360 confirmed the functionality of this feature on their review unit, and it performed as expected. Initially announced in April 2024, this feature was exclusive to Pixel 8 models, but OnePlus has now made it available to its users, marking a significant advancement in smartphone security.
