Nscale Secures Major AI Infrastructure Partnership with Microsoft

AI hyperscaler startup Nscale has secured a significant partnership with Microsoft to supply Nvidia AI hardware across multiple data centers. The agreement, announced on Wednesday, involves the delivery of approximately 200,000 Nvidia GB300 GPUs to four data centers—three located in Europe and one in the United States. This ambitious project highlights Nscale’s growing influence in the AI cloud sector and its commitment to expanding its technological capabilities.

Details of the GPU Deployment

Under the terms of the deal, Nscale will distribute the Nvidia GPUs through its own operations and a joint venture with Aker, an investment company that is also one of its investors. A substantial portion of the GPUs—104,000 units—will be allocated to a data center in Texas leased by Ionic Digital. This deployment is expected to occur over the next 12 to 18 months, with Nscale planning to enhance its operational capacity at this site to 1.2 gigawatts. Additionally, the company will send 12,600 GPUs to the Start Campus data center in Sines, Portugal, with deployment set to begin in the first quarter of 2026.

Nscale’s agreement with Microsoft builds on previous collaborations concerning data centers in Norway and the United Kingdom. The company plans to deliver 23,000 GPUs to its facility in Loughton, England, starting in 2027, and will send the remaining 52,000 GPUs to Microsoft’s AI campus in Narvik, Norway. This extensive deployment underscores Nscale’s strategic approach to expanding its infrastructure and capabilities in the AI sector.

Nscale’s Rapid Growth and Future Plans

Founded in 2024, Nscale has quickly established itself as a formidable player in the AI cloud market, raising over $1.7 billion from various strategic partners, including Aker, Nokia, and Nvidia. The company has also attracted investments from firms like Sandton Capital Partners, G Squared, and Point72. Nscale’s founder and CEO, Josh Payne, indicated that the company is considering an initial public offering (IPO) as early as the end of next year, reflecting its rapid growth and ambitious plans for the future.

Payne emphasized the company’s commitment to efficiency and sustainability, stating that the pace of Nscale’s expansion demonstrates its readiness to meet the demands of the evolving AI infrastructure landscape. He noted that this agreement with Microsoft and Aker positions Nscale as a key partner for leading technology companies, capable of delivering GPU deployments at an unprecedented scale.

The Growing Demand for GPU Technology

The recent surge in GPU deals highlights the increasing demand for advanced AI technology. Just last week, OpenAI announced a significant purchase of six gigawatts worth of chips from AMD. Additionally, OpenAI recently finalized a deal with Nvidia, which includes an investment of up to $100 billion in exchange for 10 gigawatts worth of chips. This trend indicates a robust market for GPU technology, as companies strive to enhance their AI capabilities and infrastructure.

As Nscale continues to expand its operations and partnerships, the company is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI infrastructure. With its ambitious plans and strategic collaborations, Nscale is setting a new standard for how AI technology is deployed across the globe.
