Nothing Phone 1 Receives Major Update

The Nothing Phone 1 is now receiving the latest Nothing OS 3.0 stable update. This update is rolling out in phases and is based on Android 15. Users can expect a range of visual changes across the user interface (UI), while the brand’s signature dot-matrix typeface remains intact. The update introduces new customization options for both the home and lock screens. Additionally, it enhances the pop-up view and incorporates smart app categorization powered by artificial intelligence (AI). The Nothing Phone 1 joins other models in the lineup, such as Phone 2a Plus, Phone 2a, and Phone 2, which received the Android 15 update in December.
Nothing Phone 1 Android 15 Update Features
Nothing has shared detailed information about the features included in the Nothing OS 3.0 update on its community forum. The update carries the build number V3.0-250108-1938 and introduces an AI-powered smart drawer feature. This feature automatically organizes apps into folders based on user habits. Users can also pin their most frequently used apps to the top of the app drawer for easier access.
A new lock screen customization page is now available. Users can access it by long-pressing on the lock screen or through the customization window. This page offers new clock face styles and expands the widget space, allowing for more widgets on the lock screen. Other visual enhancements include redesigned quick settings, a revamped widget library, improved settings, and a new dot animation for fingerprint actions like unlocking and charging.
Furthermore, the AI feature in Nothing OS 3.0 analyzes app usage patterns. It prioritizes frequently used apps and keeps them active longer. The update also introduces an auto-archive functionality. This feature helps free up storage space without deleting apps or data from the device.
Enhanced Multitasking and User Experience
The Nothing OS 3.0 update significantly improves multitasking capabilities. It introduces an enhanced pop-up view, allowing users to drag pop-up windows anywhere on the screen. Users can also resize and pin these windows for convenience. Additionally, they can quickly access the pop-up view by swiping down on incoming notifications. A new partial screen sharing feature enables users to record a specific app window instead of capturing the entire screen.
Another exciting addition is the Shared Widgets feature. This allows users to see widgets from the devices of friends and family directly on their home screen. Users can link up with others and interact through reactions. Currently, this feature is in beta and is limited to Nothing devices. Other improvements include an updated setup wizard and predictive back animations, enhancing the overall user experience.
