New Ashoka Health City Inaugurated in Nashik to Enhance Healthcare Access

In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurated Ashoka Health City in Nashik, Maharashtra. Highlighting the necessity for collaboration between government and private sectors, he emphasized that quality healthcare should be available to every individual in society.

Shri Birla characterized Nashik as a hub of spiritual awareness and social courage, referencing its rich heritage that includes the revered Trimbakeshwar Mahadev Temple. He reflected on how the teachings of influential figures like Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj continue to inspire social responsibility in the region. Furthermore, he noted the valor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as a guiding force for the youth of India.

Government Initiatives for Health Improvement

During his speech, Shri Birla reiterated the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the nation’s healthcare framework. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been a strong advocate for healthy living, with yoga becoming a crucial component of daily routines for many worldwide. He urged the adoption of sustainable lifestyle practices to promote overall health and well-being.

Shri Birla acknowledged the progress made in strengthening the healthcare system in India. He highlighted expansions in medical infrastructure, increased seats in medical colleges, and the launch of major initiatives like Ayushman Bharat. He commended the positive impact of private sector participation, which has led to new medical colleges and enhanced medical facilities, accompanied by a focus on research in addressing serious health conditions.

The Role of Research and Innovation

Calling for Ashoka Health City to prioritize medical research and innovation, he stressed the importance of developing facilities alongside the new hospital services introduced, including those dedicated to mothers and children, cancer care, and super-specialty treatments. He stated that healthcare professionals must equip themselves to tackle both current and emerging health challenges, reinforcing the need for India to bolster its research capabilities.

Reflecting on India’s resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shri Birla noted that Indian scientists played a vital role in vaccine development, demonstrating the nation’s growing competency in healthcare. He further emphasized the necessity for collaboration between the government and private entities to drive advancements in medical research and address new health threats.

Ensuring Healthcare Accessibility for All

Expressing optimism about the healthcare services at Ashoka Health City, Shri Birla indicated that it stands to benefit not just Nashik but also the wider North Maharashtra region. He underlined the critical need for high-quality healthcare facilities, particularly those aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes, and called for collective efforts to diminish infant mortality rates across the country. He urged private institutions to approach healthcare service expansion with a sense of social duty so that its advantages reach all segments of society.

The address concluded with a strong assertion that medical education should be intertwined with the principle of public service, encouraging future medical professionals to serve in rural areas and ensure equitable healthcare access for all, regardless of geographic or socioeconomic barriers. The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Maharashtra’s Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection, Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, and Minister of Energy from Rajasthan, Shri Hiralal Nagar.
