India Initiates Major Renewable Energy Investments at Summit 2026

On the second day of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026, key Indian officials, including Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, and Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, engaged in a pivotal dialogue during the “The Next Terawatt” plenary. This high-level meeting, organized by the International Solar Alliance, CEEW, and Energiva Ventures, aimed to shape the future of international renewable energy implementation over the coming decades.

The discourse centered around four strategic priorities: integrated energy planning, supply and storage; the expansion and resilience of energy infrastructure; financing large-scale terawatt projects; and leveraging digitalization and artificial intelligence to ensure secure and affordable energy. These discussions contributed to a strategic roadmap aligned with India’s ambitious vision of achieving a developed nation status by 2047.

In a significant milestone, Odisha announced the signing of 18 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) during the summit, which collectively represent an estimated investment of about ₹1.17 lakh crore. This announcement was made in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

Moreover, Bondada Engineering Ltd., a member of the Bondada Group, formalized an MoU with the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (Goa-IPB), pledging around ₹3,000 crore towards renewable energy projects in Goa.

The BRE Summit & Expo 2026 has gathered representatives from over 130 countries, including more than 40 ministers, senior policymakers, and industry leaders. Participating nations, including Australia, Denmark, and the United Kingdom, are facilitating opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation and promote investment and technology partnerships across the clean energy landscape.

Thirteen States and Union Territories in India showcased their renewable energy capabilities, project plans, and manufacturing strengths, further highlighting the vast potential for investment across the country.

The day featured the inaugural session of _Watts Next: Innovators’ Ideas for India’s Energy Security, Agenda 2047_, an exclusive forum designed in conjunction with BloombergNEF. This session diverged from conventional panel formats by spotlighting trailblazers in the industry, including Sumant Sinha, Shreya Mishra, and Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, who proposed actionable ideas that could transform India’s energy framework as the country edges towards its centenary of independence.

As India embarks on this substantial renewable energy expansion, the Summit serves as a critical juncture for both public and private sector players to explore innovative financing models, forge strategic partnerships, and identify solutions that will accelerate project development and implementation.
