NCC Cadets Reach Summit of Mount Everest and Return Safely
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) mountaineering team has made history by successfully reaching the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, on May 18, 2025. This remarkable achievement marks the third successful ascent for the NCC, following previous climbs in 2013 and 2016. The team, composed of ten novice climbers, returned safely to Everest Base Camp on May 19, showcasing the dedication and training of these young cadets.

The NCC expedition team consisted of ten cadets, equally divided between boys and girls, with an average age of 19. The youngest member was just 16 years old. To prepare for the ascent, the cadets underwent extensive training, which included a pre-Everest expedition to Mt Abi Gamin and a winter training camp at the Army Mountaineering Institute located at Siachen Base Camp. This systematic training program was crucial in building their physical endurance and climbing skills, ultimately leading to their selection for the Everest expedition.

The journey to the summit of Mount Everest was fraught with challenges, including unpredictable weather conditions and treacherous terrain.
