Nano Banana Introduces AI Editing Feature in India, Google Launches

Google is set to enhance the photo editing experience for users in India by introducing its innovative AI-powered tool, the Nano Banana model, to Google Photos. This feature, which has already gained popularity in the United States, will start rolling out next week. It aims to simplify and expedite photo editing, allowing users to make adjustments using natural language prompts, making the process not only easier but also more enjoyable.

At the core of this update is Google’s “Help me edit” feature, a conversational AI tool designed to transform the way users interact with their photos. Instead of manually adjusting settings like brightness or cropping images, users can now simply type requests such as “remove my sunglasses,” “open my eyes,” or “make everyone smile.” The AI within Google Photos will interpret these commands and automatically modify the images accordingly.

This feature is powered by Google’s Nano Banana AI model, which introduces a creative flair to photo editing. Users can explore imaginative styles by describing them, such as “turn this into a Renaissance portrait” or “make this look like a mosaic of colorful tiles.” This capability goes beyond conventional editing, enabling users to merge generative AI art with their personal photographs, thus expanding the creative possibilities available to them.

Ready-made AI templates

To further streamline the editing process, Google Photos will incorporate a “Create with AI” carousel within the Create tab, providing users with prompt suggestions and templates. Options will include requests like “put me in a high-fashion photoshoot,” “create a professional headshot,” or “make a winter holiday card.” These one-tap edits leverage Google’s AI technology alongside users’ photo libraries to produce professional-quality images in mere seconds.

This feature is designed to cater to users looking for quick and effective solutions for their photo editing needs. By simplifying the editing process, Google aims to empower users to create stunning visuals without requiring extensive technical skills or knowledge of traditional editing tools.

Personalised templates coming soon

In the upcoming weeks, Google will also roll out personalized templates tailored to individual users based on their photo collections, hobbies, and memorable moments. Users will have the ability to request edits such as “draw my name in my favorite style” or “make a cartoon of me hiking.” The AI will analyze cues from users’ photos to deliver results that feel uniquely personal and relevant.

This personalization aspect is expected to enhance user engagement, as individuals will be able to create content that resonates with their personal experiences and preferences. By leveraging AI technology, Google aims to make photo editing not only more accessible but also more aligned with users’ creative visions.

Additionally, Google’s conversational Ask Photos feature, which allows users to search their photo libraries using natural language queries like “show me pictures from my Goa trip,” is set to expand to over 100 countries and 17 languages. In India, users will soon notice a new “Ask” tab replacing the existing “Search” option at the bottom of the Photos app.

These updates represent a significant advancement in the capabilities of Google Photos, marking one of the most substantial AI enhancements in the platform’s history. For users in India, the rollout of the Nano Banana feature promises to make photo editing not only effortless but also a deeply creative endeavor.
