MoSPI Hosts Workshop to Enhance MPLADS and eSAKSHI Portal
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) conducted a national-level Brainstorming Workshop on January 23, 2026, at Le Méridien in Kochi, Kerala. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) Guidelines and to enhance the functionalities of the eSAKSHI Portal. The workshop aimed to refine the proposed enhancements to the eSAKSHI Portal and to discuss necessary revisions to the MPLADS Guidelines, ultimately striving for better implementation and monitoring of the scheme.
Approximately 120 representatives from various States and Union Territories attended the workshop, including officials responsible for the execution and oversight of MPLADS. The discussions centered around the integration of the MPLAD scheme with new initiatives, the introduction of new features for the eSAKSHI Portal, and adjustments to the guidelines aimed at improving digital monitoring and managing MPLADS projects from start to finish.
Focus on Transparency and Efficiency
The workshop highlighted the significance of ensuring transparency, enhancing operational efficiency, and bolstering monitoring mechanisms to improve the overall effectiveness of the MPLADS scheme. In her inaugural address, Ms. Puja Singh Mandol, Additional Secretary of MoSPI, emphasized the imperative of a robust and technology-driven framework for successful implementation. She noted that revising the Guidelines and fortifying the eSAKSHI Portal will address existing challenges, facilitate timely project completions, and heighten accountability in the utilization of public funds.
A Collaborative Atmosphere
The attendees included notable figures such as Shri C. F. Joseph, Deputy Director General of MoSPI, and Smt. Priyanka, District Collector of Ernakulam, along with other officers from State and Union Territory Governments.
