Ministry of Heavy Industries to organise a Conference on “Review of PLI-Auto Scheme – Excellence through Aatmanirbharta” tomorrow

The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) is organizing a conference on the subject “PLI-Auto Program Review – Excellence through Aatmanirbharta” tomorrow at 29th August 2023 at the India Habitat Centre. The conference will be chaired by Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister for Heavy Industries. The event aims to bring together stakeholders, viz. PLI-Auto candidates, the PMA, testing agencies etc. they review program performance, share their knowledge and experience, and address all concerns and challenges. The event will need to pay particular attention to understanding the opportunities available through this program.

MHI has undertaken several initiatives to promote cleaner mobility and develop an ecosystem of innovation and technology. In the automotive sector, the Ministry has launched several flagship programmes, one of which is the PLI scheme for automobiles and auto parts (outlay of ₹ 25,938 crore).

The cascading effect of these programs will lead to the growth of the automotive industry and the Indian automotive industry is expected to reach the third place in the world by 2030. MHI considers PLI-Auto candidates from the automotive industry as one of the bearers of crucial scheme interest. MHI is committed to supporting the industry to realize the vision of “Excellence through Aatmanirbharta” as stipulated by the Prime Minister. According to MHI, the goal of deep localization and development of Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) products within the country cannot be achieved without the support and growth of the automotive industry. The central government takes the moral responsibility to strengthen this important sector by providing financial support and an enabling environment to cultivate innovation and technology.
