Mines Ministry organizing first ever Mining Start-up Summit in Mumbai on 29th May in collaboration with IIT, Bombay

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Shri Pralhad Joshi to inaugurate the first Mining Startup Summit to be organized by the Ministry of Mines in partnership with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay on 29th May 2023 in Mumbai. Shri Raosaheb Patil Danve, Minister of State for Mines, Coal and Railways, will chair the concluding session of the summit. The Single Summit will mainly focus on innovation and techniques that will support and improve performance, and safety and help build autonomy in the field of mining and metallurgy.

With the country having the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world, there is room to engage start-ups in tackling challenges in mining, to streamline the process for the mining industry by leveraging new technologies in exploration and mining and improving the country’s mining and mineral production.

During the event, the Ministry of Mines will interact with start-ups in the field of mining and metallurgy and how these start-ups equipped with different technologies can contribute to the activities of the mining sector and increase exploration capabilities and mining and improve the efficiency of the mining industry.

The summit will also focus on interacting with leading mining exploration industries, financial institutions and banks. Students and young professionals working in the fields of exploration, virtual reality, automation, drone technology, consulting, etc. will also benefit from the event. More than 120 start-ups and 20 large industries will participate in this Summit.

A state of the art exhibition, showing the advancement of technology in mining, technical session and roundtable with industries and academia, start-up presentations, brainstorming session are some of the highlights of the first start-up summit mining-up to be held in India’s commercial capital Mumbai.
