Military Nursing Service celebrates International Nurses Day, 2024

May 11, 2024, Ayurvigyan Auditorium, Army Hospital (R & R): International Nurses Day was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm at the Ayurvigyan Auditorium, Army Hospital (R & R), marking a tribute to the invaluable contributions of nurses towards society. Maj Gen Kanwarjit Singh, Offg Commandant Army Hospital (R&R), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, joined by Maj Gen Sheena P D., Principal Matron, who warmly welcomed the gathering.

Every year, on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, International Nurses Day is commemorated worldwide to honor the dedication and compassion of nurses in delivering healthcare services.

The International Council of Nurses designated this year’s theme as ‘Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power of Care’, which was unveiled by Maj Gen I D Flora, Addl DGMNS. To mark the occasion, a thought-provoking debate on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Nursing: Boon or a Bane’ and a stimulating panel discussion on the theme were conducted. Eminent panelists engaged in insightful discussions covering a spectrum of topics, ranging from the challenges in the nursing profession to approaches for empowering nurses, the pivotal leadership role of nurses, nursing education, digitalization in healthcare, and addressing nurse burnout.

During the event, the Chief Guest honored the esteemed panelists and recognized the exemplary service of meritorious Nursing Officers by presenting them with Appreciation certificates. Capt Deepa Shajan was notably awarded the prestigious Pushpnaranjan Award for her outstanding contributions to the field
