On 18 July 2023, the United Kingdom and the Republic of India concluded the 11th round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks between the United Kingdom and India.

As with previous rounds, this one was conducted in a hybrid fashion: a number of Indian officials traveled to London for negotiations and others attended virtually.

On 10-11 July 2023, Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Trade and Industry, Consumers, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles in the Government of India visited the UK as part of the 11th round of UK-India free trade negotiations. He met Rt. Deputy Hon. Kemi Badenoch, Secretary of State for Business and Trade, and MP Hon. Nigel Huddleston, Minister of State for International Trade, discussed ways to make progress on the FTA negotiations and wider trade and investment opportunities for the UK and India.

Government of India Secretary of Commerce Shri Sunil Barthwal also visited the UK during the round. He met with senior UK trade officials and took stock of progress made in the 11th round of negotiations.

Technical discussions took place in 9 policy areas over 42 separate sessions. They included detailed discussions of the draft treaty text in these policy areas.

The twelfth round of negotiations is expected to take place in the coming months.
