Indian Forest Service Exam 2024: Key Updates

The Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination is a prestigious competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The results of the IFS (Main) Examination for 2024 have been announced, and candidates are now preparing for the next stage: the Personality Test (Interview). This article outlines the essential details regarding the candidates who have qualified, the requirements for the interview, and the next steps in the selection process.

Qualified Candidates and Provisional Candidature

The UPSC has released the list of candidates who have successfully qualified for the Personality Test based on their performance in the IFS (Main) Examination held from November 24 to December 1, 2024. It is important to note that the candidature of these candidates is provisional. This means that their eligibility will be confirmed only after they provide the necessary documentation.

Candidates must present original certificates to support their claims regarding age, educational qualifications, community, and other relevant categories. This includes documentation for those seeking reservation benefits under SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD categories. The original certificates must be issued before the closing date of the application for the IFS Examination, which was March 6, 2024. Therefore, candidates are advised to prepare these documents in advance to avoid any last-minute issues.

Personality Test Schedule and e-Summon Letters

The dates for the Personality Tests will be announced shortly. These interviews will take place at the UPSC office located at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi. Candidates can expect to receive their e-Summon Letters, which will be available for download from the UPSC website.

It is crucial for candidates to check the website regularly for updates. If any candidate faces difficulties downloading their e-Summon Letter, they should promptly contact the UPSC office. The contact details include phone numbers and email addresses provided by the Commission. Importantly, the UPSC will not issue paper summon letters for the interviews, emphasizing the need for candidates to be proactive in obtaining their e-Summon Letters.

Detailed Application Form Submission Requirements

All candidates who qualify for the Personality Test must complete and submit the Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II). This submission is mandatory and must be done online through the UPSC website. The DAF-II will be available from January 20 to January 27, 2025. Candidates must fill out this form accurately and upload required documents, including educational qualifications and any relevant certificates.

Candidates should also indicate their preferences for Zones/Cadres in the DAF-II. Failure to submit the DAF-II or any supporting documents by the deadline will lead to the cancellation of their candidature. The UPSC will not entertain any requests for changes or modifications to the information provided in the DAF-I and DAF-II forms. Therefore, candidates must ensure that all information is accurate and complete before submission.

Post-Interview Process and Result Availability

After the Personality Tests are conducted, the marksheets of all candidates will be uploaded on the UPSC website. This will occur within 15 days of the final results being published. Candidates will have access to their marksheets for 30 days after they are posted online. This transparency allows candidates to review their performance and understand their standing in the selection process.
