India Advances Defence Capabilities with Successful Missile Tests

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has marked a significant milestone by successfully demonstrating key technologies aimed at enhancing India’s defence against various enemy threats. This achievement came during a series of three flight tests conducted on June 10 and 11, 2026, showcasing the nation’s multi-layered defence against long-range ballistic missiles and anti-ship capabilities at medium range.

Successful Ballistic Missile Defence Demonstration

The recent tests successfully validated the Multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capabilities, with interceptors effectively engaging their targets. These advanced defence systems are tailored with cutting-edge technology to counteract emerging missile threats, underscoring India’s commitment to national security.

Entry into Elite Group of Nations

With these successful tests, India joins the elite league of nations equipped with BMD capabilities capable of intercepting Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. Additionally, DRDO conducted the maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NASMMR), which also met success during the trials.

Support from Senior Officials

The trials were closely observed by senior officials from the DRDO and the Defence Forces, reflecting the collaborative efforts undertaken to achieve this significant technological advancement. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh extended his congratulations to DRDO, heralding the successful demonstration of these critical technologies.

Leadership Praise

Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO, actively monitored the trials and praised the teamwork between DRDO and industry partners. This cooperative effort is a testament to India’s growing technological prowess in defence.
