Celebrating National Energy Conservation Day: Awards and Initiatives
On December 14, 2025, National Energy Conservation Day will be commemorated across India to emphasize the vital importance of saving energy and to showcase the country’s strides in energy efficiency. The event will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, with President Droupadi Murmu serving as the Chief Guest. During the ceremony, the President will speak to attendees and present the prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 along with the winners of the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025.

Joining the President at this significant event will be Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, along with Minister of State for Power, Shri Shripad Naik, Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Shri Pankaj Agarwal, and Director General of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Shri Dhiraj Kumar Shrivastava.
Acknowledging Energy Efficiency
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, plays a key role in promoting energy conservation in the nation. Every year, the NECA recognizes the efforts of various sectors, including industries, transport, buildings, institutions, and individuals dedicated to energy efficiency. This year, a total of 680 applications were received, reflecting a robust commitment from diverse entities.
New Category for Influencers
In a progressive step, NECA 2025 introduces a new category to honor Social Media Influencers and Digital Content Creators. This addition acknowledges the significant impact that these individuals have in shaping public opinion and promoting energy conservation.
Fostering Creativity Through Painting
The National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation, organized since 2005, aims to inspire young minds to adopt energy-saving practices. This year’s competition saw participation from over 80 lakh students representing 1,10,000 schools nationwide. The competition consists of three levels: School, State/UT, and National, encouraging creativity while spreading awareness about energy conservation.
Prize Structure for Young Artists
The competition features a comprehensive prize structure for participants across two groups. Winners at the State/UT and National levels will receive cash prizes ranging from Rs. 7,500 to Rs. 1,00,000, with additional rewards such as laptops/tablets and opportunities for educational tours in India for national winners.
