Border Road Organization (BRO) will complete the Amarnath Yatra track rehabilitation works by 15th June 2023, well ahead of the start of the Yatra on 1st July 2023. The scope of work includes snow clearing, track widening, the restoration of all pedestrian bridges, the fixing of handrails, the construction of partition walls etc.
Earlier the Yatra track from Baltal to Holy Cave was managed by Public Works Department, Jammu & Kashmir and the one from Chandanwari to Holy Cave was managed by Pahalgam Development Authority. The tracks were handed over to BRO in September 2022 for maintenance and upgrade.
