BHASHINI Showcases AI Innovations at National Conference on e-Governance 2026

The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) made a significant impact at the National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) 2026. Organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with the Government of Rajasthan, the event highlighted the importance of digital governance and the role of AI in enhancing accessibility for citizens.
At their exhibition stall, BHASHINI captivated delegates with live demonstrations of its advanced AI capabilities. Visitors could experience real-time speech and text translation, as well as voice-based AI services like Shrutlekh, BhashaDaan, and the revolutionary Suno Sutra, India’s first handheld multilingual edge AI device. These technologies demonstrated practical applications in governance, enabling effective communication and seamless access to public services.
Delegates engaged enthusiastically with BhashaDaan, a national crowdsourcing initiative that invites contributions of language data. Participants contributed and validated datasets across various Indian languages, earning Digital Participation Certificates for their efforts in enriching India’s multilingual AI framework.
Strengthening Local Languages Through Innovation
During the conference, BHASHINI launched the Rajasthan Language Model Training Hackathon. This initiative aims to bolster AI models tailored for regional languages in Rajasthan, focusing on creating high-quality datasets for Marwari, Mewari, Dhundhari, Hadoti, Mewati, and Bagri. This initiative represents a vital step towards preserving and promoting regional languages in the digital domain.
A noteworthy feature of the conference was the deployment of Shrutlekh, BHASHINI’s AI-driven real-time speech-to-text solution. Throughout various plenary and breakout sessions, Shrutlekh enabled live transcription and translation, showcasing the potential of AI to enhance accessibility at large public events.
Government Leaders Engage with BHASHINI
The BHASHINI stall attracted prominent visitors, including Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, and Shri Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister for Information Technology and Communication. Together with senior government officials and delegates from across the country, they experienced the transformative potential of BHASHINI’s multilingual AI solutions in improving citizen service delivery.
On the sidelines of the event, Shri Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), participated in an Investors’ Meet. He engaged in discussions with the Chief Minister of Rajasthan about advancing language technologies and promoting inclusive digital governance through innovative AI solutions.
Amitabh Nag emphasized the importance of understanding the diverse languages spoken in India, stating, “For AI to truly serve every citizen, it must understand the languages people speak in their daily lives.” This reflects BHASHINI’s commitment to building an inclusive AI ecosystem that caters to every citizen’s needs.
BHASHINI’s active participation at NCeG 2026 highlighted its dedication to enhancing multilingual Digital Public Infrastructure. By enabling governments and institutions to deliver services in languages that citizens understand, BHASHINI plays a pivotal role in realizing the vision of a Digital India where language barriers no longer hinder access to governance.
